One of my favorite people to be around is an old man named Doug. Practically a grandpa to me and many other young cowboys; Doug is full of wisdom and wit. Doug has a saying for every situation. One could make a fortune if only they could be quick enough to write down all of his one liners in a book.
A classic example of Doug humor is what he may tell you after getting a tail whip of bovine defecate in the mouth. “It’s just grass and water kid, just grass and water.” This fragment of insight is the small bit of encouragement you needed as you try and fabricate enough saliva to effectively purge your taste buds of your new found snack.
How true is Doug’s saying when you think about it. We have watched our bison grow and grow from the simple substance of just “grass and water.” Isn’t amazing to watch God’s beautiful canvas play out?

I do love Doug stories…
